Style Hack: One Dress, Two Ways

I was once asked to describe myself using only colors, shapes, fabrics and prints. If you know anything about me then it’s no surprise my answer included none other than gold, black and white, leather, lace and of course my fave, leopard. When it comes to my personal style, I love to keep things minimal in terms of color but also not scared to go bold with prints or sexy it up a bit with lace or leather.

My girl friend and I had recently planned to catch up over a few cocktails and check out this DJ set at the Soho Grand Hotel on a Thursday night. I’m a gal that loves a good style hack and the ability to take an outfit from day to night with ease. So as I was planning what to wear for work that day, I knew I wanted to go for a look that could transition without having to have a whole separate outfit for the few extra hours I would be out that night.

For my work look, I opted for a long leopard print dress that I got from Zara with a pair of black thigh high velvet boots. I am fortunate that I don’t have to be suited and booted even though I practice law by day. I have a lot of leeway in bringing my personality into my work wardrobe while still keeping it professional. So please believe I take full advantage of that.

To take my day look to a night look, I took full advantage of the dress-over-jeans trend that’s all the rage right now. It was the perfect way to go from work fly to after five fab quickly with a few tweaks. For my night look, I added a pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans and white Proenza Schouler booties. I only buttoned a few of the dress buttons to allow it to have some movement and show a little bit of my belly skin to up the flirty/sexy factor. It was the perfect casual cute outfit for the night and the chill vibes flowing at the Soho Grand Hotel.

Needless to say, the dress-over-jeans look is my jam and the perfect style hack to stretch your wardrobe. How do you feel about the dress-over-jeans trend? Drop me a comment and let me know.

    1. It’s so fun. I have a few more of these looks in my back pocket. You should also try with a silky type dress over jeans. It’s super cute. I recently that for a second time but didn’t take a single full length photo (I was cute though, lol), but photograph it next time because I really do love the dress over jeans and will be wearing that style out. So let’s do this!
